East Somerville T Placemaking Plan

134 Washington Street Somerville, MA East Somerville Main Streets and CultureHouse 

The new East Somerville MBTA station provides a much-needed transit connection for a previously underserved neighborhood. However, its location on the outskirts and a 15-minute walk from key commercial areas like Washington Street and Broadway limits accessibility. To enhance accessibility and connectivity, the project will focus on improving the community path entrance and sidewalks along Washington Street. CultureHouse will install informative fence designs and multilingual signage. Additionally, five wayfinding signs will be placed along Franklin Street, the primary route from the station to Broadway, to guide visitors.
